Director, Warehouse Material Handling (Virtual) Job

Location: Purchase, NY, USA

This is a virtual position and the person will be able to work anywhere.

Optimize all aspects of PEP global warehouse engineering and automation to drive productivity in both plant and satelite wareshouses. Automation will drive Labor Performance, Loading Efficiency, and Inventory Management. Team will identify, develop and deploy globally applicable best practices and capex projects that will significantly reduce warehousing costs and improve service in the supply chain. Scope will include all company owned warehouse facilities in PepsiCo and potentially Franchise and JV partners.

This role will directly impact Direct and Indirect Warehouse Labor, Inventory Costs, Breakage and Shrinkage, Co-Packer Fees and out of network transportation costs.

Accountabilities


· Achieve PepsiCo's AOP productivity targets and capital deployment with global operations.

· Insure productivity projects are deployed on budget and on schedule. Verify that productivity returns are achieved.

· Identify, develop, and Deploy new technologies that support the productivity initiative.

· Provide subject matter expertise and advice to all field Regions and PI's Operating community.

· Conceptualize and develop Best Operating Practices as they relate to all Warehouse engineering topics including but limited to:























· Project Management, Vertical Start-ups, and Line Commissioning

· Equipment Supplier Development and Procurement

· Warehouse Technology and Equipment Standards, Design and Development

· Capital Procurement

· Utilities Design and Management

· Facility and Equipment Maintenance


· Develop field ready training programs (Best Practice Tools) and lead the deployment of these BPTs in all markets.

· Lead the development, piloting, and deployment of standard engineering tools that facilitate the implementation & sustainment of Engineering, Maintenance, & Technical Manufacturing processes.

· Facilitate the development and execution of a global Warehouse Engineering agenda with the field engineering/technical managers, including best practice sharing & world-class solution development.

· Manage the selection and coordination of all 3rd party vendors related to Engineering and Maintenance topics including but not limited to IT software applications.

· Manage existing and foster new OEM supplier relationships for Warehouse Technology and Automation.

· Act as key liaison with PepsiCo's Procurement Organization and Category Captains.

· Coordinate with other Global Operations SME's as to the on-going mission, vision, and development of the Operating Capability strategy for global operations.

· Provide subject matter expertise, coaching, calibration, and support to all field Warehousing and Engineering managers.

· Coordinate with Sector SVP of Operations and senior field managers to develop viable implementation plans as well as gaining alignment and commitment to the Engineering capability agendas.

· Champion the research and development for new warehouse technologies.

· Through building capability, positively impact the business results in over 450 plant warehouses and thousands of satellite distributions centers.

· Manage multiple, high visibility projects across functional groups at the Support Center, Sectors, and Core Bottlers.

· Support as needed key field projects from Capex Development through commissioning.

· Coordinate the annual Capital Planning processes and needs review with Finance.

· Review all major Warehouse related capital appropriation requests to validate strategy as well as ensure appropriateness of proposed technology and project scope.

· Select and manage 3rd party consultants and vendors.

Key Skills/Experience Required

· Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Warehousing, or other related fields.

· 8-15 years of Engineering or Operations experience preferably in warehousing and supply chain planning

· Warehouse or Plant management experience in consumer goods industries with direct P&L responsibility

· Formal Training, Certifications, or Direct Experience in Warehousing operations

· Knowledge of TPM efficiency, loss analysis, and reliability methods and related software support applications

· Experience Developing and Deploying Best Practice Tools

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

· Comfortable working in team environments and with multi-cultural teams.

· Ability to manage multiple projects and a highly dynamic workload.

· International experience desirable.

· Demonstrated thought leadership and conceptualization skills.

· Strong computer skills with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Word required.

· High degree of independence, drive and results orientation.

· Strong influencing skills with multiple project stakeholders

· Secondary languages valued

· Ability to travel internationally (30+% travel)

· Proven experience building and managing teams and developing people
