Manager, Food Service Strategy Job

The Foodservice Strategy group at PepsiCo is a relatively new group dedicated to developing and driving a consumer-led growth strategy for the Foodservice division. The group reports via the SVP and Global Innovation Officer, Foodservice who reports directly to the CEO of PepsiCo Americas Beverages (PAB). The group has a high level of exposure to senior executives at PAB, PepsiCo Americas Foods and PepsiCo Bottling.

PepsiCo Foodservice generates ~$5B of annual revenue from the sale of all PepsiCo lines of business (beverages & snacks) to Away-From-Home consumption channels (Restaurants, Hotels, Airports, Offices, Schools, Colleges & Universities, Hospitals, Sports Stadiums, Convenience & Gas stores, and Vending). PepsiCo Foodservice has developed an aggressive growth plan and is hiring an additional Strategy team member to help identify the optimal growth strategies for new products, technology and equipment.

The role of Manager of Foodservice Strategy is a critical one for the team. By working closely with senior executives, the Manager will work on a variety of projects focused on portfolio, channel and innovation strategy, cross-brand themes, and understanding of core consumer segments. The Manager will participate in problem solving and opportunity evaluation, including strategic and financial analysis, and the creation of business plans for high potential opportunities. It is expected that the Manager will blend strong internal capabilities with creative, external perspectives. The Manager will be able to champion new initiatives that demonstrate breakthrough thinking, and with direct access to executives, will be an integral part of highly visible projects that will have a significant impact on the direction and performance of the Foodservice division.

The group moves at a fast pace and works on several different initiatives at a time, giving the Manager exposure to different facets of the business and the ability to build a broad network across the company.

Primary Roles and Responsibilities Include:
1) Applied Strategy: Work collaboratively with other Foodservice Strategy team members on core strategic projects. Work closely with the team to develop a hypothesis driven approach to solving an issue. Effectively assess business issues to identify project specific information needs/gaps.

2) Business Development (M&A): Provide broad, strategic input into potential mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, partnerships and divestitures to ensure maximum returns on invested capital and consistency with the overall business. Assess the competitive landscape for potential deals and will develop the business case for potential acquisitions and divestitures by spearheading both the strategic due diligence and valuation initiatives of a transaction.

3) Quantitative Analysis: Scope, plan, and conduct the underlying analyses that will yield critical answers to the questions at hand. Understand the required data sets to complete the analysis and procure them accordingly. Deliver timely, zero-defect execution of analysis, with minimal oversight. Leverage Excel and other quantitative tools for the analytical "heavy lifting". Analyze data and translate findings into meaningful consumer insights, integrating relevant business knowledge as well as learning from other projects and sources.

4) Critical Communication Development & Business Reporting: Communicate the implications of the analysis to upper management clearly. Leverage PowerPoint to create impactful, concise, and defect free slide loops.

  • Equipment platform strategy


    INTERFACES WITH:

    The Manager will interact closely with a wide array of company leaders across all channels, functions, regions and product lines. This person will interface with Foodservice executives across a variety of functions such as Marketing, Innovation, Sales, Finance, Operations, and Human Resources, as well as with Strategy team members outside of Foodservice.



PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

1) Relevant Experience: A minimum of one to two years of post-MBA professional experience, ideally including a stint at a strategy consulting firm (Bain, BCG, McKinsey, etc.)
2) Structured & Logical Thinking: The ability to identify and define business problems
and issues, and demonstrate a 'nose for value' to discern what is important
3) Analytical Rigor: Proven capability conducting and managing quantitative portfolio and growth analysis
4) � Passion for Consumer-facing businesses and customers: � Experience working in and/or advising clients in the CPG, Retail, or Foodservice industry, and an ongoing desire to make one of the world's strongest CPG companies even stronger
5) Powerful communication: The ability to communicate effectively and succinctly, both verbally and on paper, and with all levels of an organization
6) Educational Credentials: The right candidate will possess a Masters in Business Administration from a top-tier educational institution and a strong GMAT score.
